I have always needed to understand things. As a kid I was bored with school, not from lack of interest but from an excess of it. I was too busy daydreaming and devouring popular science magazines to care much about reciting things back on command. Dinosaurs, biology, psychology, history, the future. I needed to know all of it. It took pursuing a degree for me to realize I had been academic all along. The structure just never fit.
Alongside that curiosity came something else: a deep and stubborn sense of justice. Probably inherited, possibly just wired in. Even with a rebellious spirit, fairness and justice were always a part of me.
I first became fascinated with machine learning around 2017, through speedrunning (a form of competitive gaming with self-imposed urgency) where neural networks were being used to chase world records. A few years later I decided to pursue InfoSec as a career, drawn in by ethical hackers and the craft of offensive security. I was going to be a red teamer leveraging AI. Or so I thought.
Something clicked as I went deeper into AI and security together. I realized this space demands everything at once: technical depth, legal understanding, philosophical grounding, governance thinking, and the ability to communicate across all of it. No single discipline owns the problem. A background that spans technology, sales, and a lifelong habit of learning across fields turned out to be exactly the right preparation for that kind of work.
That is what I am working on now. Building in-depth technical understanding, legal and governance knowledge, and the cross-disciplinary range to contribute meaningfully to getting this right.
Outside of all of this, the most important thing I am is being a husband and father of two small children. It also means that everything I build, I build alongside a full-time degree, 40 credits a semester, and the general beautiful chaos of life.
