Narrow AI

AI systems designed and trained to perform one specific task or a limited set of related tasks, as opposed to general purpose AI. Today's most capable AI systems, despite their impressive performance, are all narrow AI: a chess engine cannot write poetry, and a language model cannot drive a car.
